Beauty Review: the products’ The Deodorant

Published : January 16, 2016

Flourish editor, Jane, trials the 100% natural 'the products' The Deodorant' and finds out if it does the job.

Words: Jane Willis

Many years ago when my older children were younger, I went through a stage (short) of using an aluminium-free rock style kind of deodorant.

It really wasn’t very effective.

I still cringe when I think of the very upmarket boutique I visited and tried on many clothes, purchasing some of them. I think back with horror the stench of body odour that I must have left behind…in the change room and no doubtedly on the clothes. Poor form indeed.

As I said, my use of this particular ‘natural’ deodorant was short lived. Maybe if I’d persevered my body may have got used to it though I’m not really sure if that’s how it works.

Roll on to a barbeque at a dear friend’s house late 2015, and I was gifted a the products The Deodorant from the owner and creator, accomplished make up artist, Rebekah Clark.

I was told ‘It works, it really works’ by another guest who is a fan.

A little sceptical, but with faith and respect of my friends’ opinions, I put it to the test.

I wore the deodorant solely for a three week period before writing this review.

I wore it playing tennis. I wore it on a 40 degree Perth summer day. I wore it for an 16 hour period after applying first thing in the morning, until a shower late that night. I wore it throughout the busy festive season.

And I’ve got to say… it does work, and I’m a convert.

On the label it says ‘Apply When Required’. I haven’t found the need to reapply during the day as yet.

The products’ The Deodorant comes in a 50ml bottle with a pump action nozzle. It’s a small, compact size good for travelling or in your handbag. The packaging is simple and attractive.

To apply – and this is best done before dressing – give the bottle a quick shake then push down on the nozzle one or two times directing towards the underarm. The deodorant comes out in a squirt not a spray. I use my fingers to spread it around the underarm, though others I’ve spoken to spray then put their arms down and move them back and forward to disperse the deodorant. I then give my hands a quick rinse before getting on with other parts of my beauty routine.

The nozzle hasn’t got blocked and is working as well as it did when I first used it.

The products’ The Deodorant is 100% natural and alcohol free and retails at $17.95.The company is Perth-based and the products are alll hand made in small batches by Rebekah.
