The Big Roast is an annual fundraiser conceived by Victorian parents, Kirsty and Stephen Bowness, whose two children have Cystic Fibrosis. When their daughter, Grace was four years old, she mispronounced the name of her condition by calling it "Sixty Five Roasters." This amusing childhood error was all the inspiration needed for the Bowness's to set up this fundraising event.
In the seven years since The Big Roast began, Kirsty and Stephen Bowness have raised over $80 000 for the Royal Children's Hospital Cystic Fibrosis Trust.
Taking part in this fundraiser is very simple. All you have to do is invite friends, family, or neighbours over to your house for a roast lunch or dinner in exchange for a financial donation. You can also get in touch with your favourite restaurant about hosting The Big Roast at their venue. After the feast you then forward your group's contributions to The Big Roast's fundraising page.
Please visit The Big Roast website to learn more about becoming involved in this cause. You can also email Kirsty and Stephen should you have any further queries.
